Myths and Legends of the Sun, Moon and Stars

Content

Myths and legends enliven the changing night sky and show how ancient peoples viewed their universe. In addition to the tales of the gods, goddesses and heroes of Greek mythology who we remember in the constellations, you can choose from the legends and lore of African, Australasian, Babylonian, Celtic, Chinese, Egyptian, Finnish, Meso-american, Norse, and Roman traditions. I will normally tell both Creation and Heroic myths, some of which will relate to constellations or planets which are currently visible. I can usually adapt the mix of stories to meet your specific requirements.

Most stories are augmented by music played on the lyre, monaulos, arghul or darabuka.

If you wish, I can add to the dramatic effect by dressing in ancient Greek garb.

I can (and often do) combine storytelling with an observing session — feel free to mix-and-match sessions to suit your requirements.

Duration: Depends on the audience. Childrens sessions are typically 20 minutes long; adult sessions can be up to 45 minutes, depending on your requirements.
