Transit of Venus 2004 June 08

Set up 10×50 binocs, 80f5 refractor (both with Baader Astro-Solar filters) and a Solarscope at school. The event was enjoyed by pupils of all ages:

Astro-imagers of the Future?

The day after the event, some 6/7-year olds made some "get well" cards for a sick classmate. Their teacher assures me that they were not prompted to do what appeared in over a quarter of the cards. Here are four of the "special" (to me) ones:

This is the sort of thing that really makes it worthwhile making a bit of an effort to show things to young people.
